These machines are the largest 3 driven axis lapping and polishing machines available, and were built in partnership with the customer. The machines were pc controlled for pressure forces, speed, product thickness, slurry feeds, temperatures and other processes necessary. It was capable of producing components up to 600mm square and optically flat to 1/10th of the wavelength of visible light.

The products processed range from mirrors, ceramic substrates for semi-conductor manufacture, quartz windows, through to engineering components such as joint plates that need to be extremely flat.

The machines can be configured for lapping or polishing, with the main differences being slurry paste and drive patterns.
