A two-stage foil-cleaning machine for cleaning small particles from 65mm side plastic coated perforated thin aluminium foil.
The main components integrated into the machine were a self-designed. It consisted of a low-tension de-reeler, which power fed the foil. The foil was then passed through some clinical sticky pinch rollers to remove foreign particles. These were direction controlled to steer the foil in a controlled manner.
The foil then passed through some high power ultra violet lamps to kill any existing bacteria before the foil was re-reeled on a reeling unit similar to the de-reeler.
Special considerations for the design of this machine were to include a pressurised filtration system to ensure that the working enclosure was under constant pressure, forcing any contaminants to be expelled. Also, due to the high power UV lamps a multi-layer labyrinth system was added to both the front door and the lower sections of the machine to protect operators.
This machine was built in conjunction with a suite of special purposes machines during the development of a revolutionary new drug delivery system.
The machine was built with full FDA trace-ability for US food and drug administration.
